From the first impression the two soloists seem to have nothing common. But after some exploration one discovers a number of links. Both Massimo Mercelli and Darko Brlek are not only virtuosos, performing in the most prestigious concert halls of New York and Buenos Aires, Amsterdam and Moscow, Cairo and Tokyo; they are not only founders and artistic directors of music festivals, but also active members of the European Festivals Association. Recently Darko Brlek has decided to dedicate more of his time to organisational work (at a general assembly of the EFA held in Lithuanian National Philharmonic in May he was elected president for second cadence). While Massimo Mercelli decided to establish himself on concert platform (he collaborated with Philip Glass in a premiere of his work, performed Krzysztof Penderecki's music under the baton of the composer and took part in maestro's 75th anniversary celebration at the Warsaw Philharmonic performing premiere of Enio Morricone's Cantata, and this season the flutist will give a world premiere of Michael Nyman's Flute Concerto dedicated to him).
