The musical thriller "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" written in the 1970s was a revolutionary event in the art of opera, which expanded the limits of the genres of opera and musical. Premiered in Lithuania at the beginning of 2009, it shook the academic establishment and caused great controversy. Produced by the same team of artists who staged "La Boheme", it was a real surprise in Lithuania. It did not leave anyone indifferent, which is what great art is for. Asmik Grigorian, who performed the role of Mrs Lovett, was awarded the Golden Stage Cross in 2010.
