Festival „Pestivals” with its sold-out Ellie Goulding show at concert hall „Palladium Riga” on 17th April will close the first concerts session, and already now there is known the first musician of the next concerts session, which will start on August – few weeks after „PESTIVALS 2013”. Alex Clare – British singer and composer – will perform for the first time in the Baltics on 8th August at concert hall „Palladium Riga”.
„Too Close” is the most popular song by Alex Clare till now, Leona Lewis and others have covered this song on their performances. This track has reached 4th place on British chart „UK Top 40”, as well as 7th place at U.S. „Billboard Hot 100”. The song was nominated at „BRIT Awards 2013” as the best single. Alex Clare has collaborated with band „Rudimental” on track „Not Giving In”, appearing on charts all around the world. Other popular songs – „Up All Night”, „Treading Water”, „Humming Bird” and new track in collaboration with electronic music producer Sub Focus – „Endorphins”.
Alex Clare music includes electro, dubstep, soul, R&B, alternative rock, drum&bass sounds. Alex is an Orthodox Jew, so he does not travel, perform or work on Jewish Sabbath or religious holidays, as well as often visits Jerusalem. „We wanted to bring Alex Clare to this year’s festival in Riga PESTIVALS, but due to his religious aspects it was not possible – he does not perform on Friday or Saturday. So there will be headline show on Thursday, as one of PESTIVALS session events,” comments festival director Aivars Lipenitis.
Alex Clare dated Amy Winehouse for a year. But musicians who influenced his style are jazz, blues and soul artists Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and others.
During the first festival „Pestivals” concerts session there was possibility to attend Redfoo of „LMFAO” show at Arena Riga as well as Belgian soul/funk/reggae artist Selah Sue show at „Palladium Riga” last December. Selah will return to Riga this July, to perform on „Pestivals 2013” Main stage. 17th April is show date of Ellie Goulding „The Halcyon Days Tour”, supported by Matthew Koma.
