S. Zweig's short story is a controversial, psychologically complex work that analyzes the doctor's profession, its significance, the doctor's right to evaluate the patient through the prism of personal values, the power relations between men and women. S. Zweig - XX century. a phenomenon of Austrian literature, a world-famous writer who in his time formed a strain of Austrian psychologism in literature. In his work, the writer often emphasizes the individuality and freedom of the personality, in more than one work he shows what kind of demon, what kind of psychological enigma sometimes lies in a person. The life of his characters is a long suppression and concealment of feelings until, in an extreme situation, feelings break out and a person becomes spiritually naked.

The short story "Amok" talks about the complicated profession of a doctor while resisting one of the most sensitive and controversial topics in medicine - abortion. The main character of the piece turns to the only doctor in her environment who can provide help, but he begins to question not only the woman's decision, but also the very situation of asking for help, emphasizing the doctor's profession, belittling the woman's inability to "ask", to admit that she feels ashamed of the choice.

The upcoming performance will talk about how it is sometimes difficult, but necessary to reject personalities and the world of one's values - especially in professions that naturally require impartiality. Although the images of both characters in the work are revealed through the narration of one character, the woman's inner experiences in the upcoming performance will be presented delicately, sensitively, individually, without the myths and religious clichés surrounding the complex topic, just like in the novella. The work depicts a strong image of a woman who accepts her situation with dignity, does not humble herself and does not surrender to the male world.
