Dance Performance: THE GROOVES EXPERIENCE

The HIP-HOP dance festival Urban Essentials presents GROOVES EXPERIENCE. 

The performance will invite the audience to a house music party, where the audience, together with the dancer, will create a club-like experience to close the festival.

This is a choreographic exploration of the clubbing as a contemporary ritual space. 

Created by Marina Pravkina, the work merges raw rhythm, physicality, and collective presence, redefining the format of stage performance through the language of the dancefloor. 

Drawing on the pulsating energy of groove and the communal power of clubbing, the performance channels both synchronized movement and individual expression – where sound becomes a unifying force, dissolving superficial boundaries.

At its core lies a simple yet timeless truth: the human need to dance hard together is nothing new. From clubs to public

squares and forests, people have always gathered to create temporary spaces of collective intensity – disruptive, immersive, and radically different from the everyday. These gatherings are not bound to one genre or location; they are rituals of shared embodiment, of connection beyond language. 

In a society increasingly shaped by control and individualism, GROOVES EXPERIENCE reclaims this primal need for collective movement. Inspired by the notion that a club night is already a performance, the piece brings the essence of nightlife to the stage, examining the shifting states of the "clubbing body” – through a fusion of casual movement, transformed footwork of social club dance and the DJ’s visceral response to sound.

Over the course of an hour, the audience is taken on a journey from individual dance expressions to a collective, communal dance, where the spectators’ "clubbing bodies" become the central focus of the stage.
