Didžioji ekspedicija po Ignalinos atominę elektrinę (N-18)
Grand Expedition to the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (Adults Only – 18+)
Some places have shaped history. Others are shaping the future. The Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant is one of the few where both come together.
We invite you to embark on an extraordinary atomic adventure – a full-day expedition to the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.
Once home to the world's most powerful nuclear reactors, the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant is now the site of Lithuania's most complex environmental megaproject, carried out by Altra.
This is a unique opportunity to witness firsthand how a nuclear power plant is safely dismantled and how the nuclear legacy accumulated over several decades is being responsibly managed.
Join us to explore Lithuania's megaproject, see the progress achieved, discover how every stage of the work is carried out safely and responsibly, and get answers to all your questions! The first thing you will have to do is dress up in real, snow-white worker’s clothes.
The expedition consists of two parts:
• Visit to the Interim Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility. You will see the impressive storage casks containing most of the spent nuclear fuel from the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. We will take an in-depth look at the entire nuclear fuel cycle – from uranium mining to its final storage destination. Together, we will explore what has already been accomplished and what challenges and milestones still lie ahead.
• Guided tour of the plant's controlled area. You will discover how the plant's remarkable facilities and systems once operated. The tour includes access to areas rarely seen by the public, including the turbine hall, the spent fuel pool, the reactor control panel, and other unique locations. We will discuss reactor operation, the management of liquid radioactive waste, the destination of decontaminated materials, and what awaits the plant components that will continue to emit radiation for hundreds of years.
This expedition is far more than a standard guided tour – it is a unique opportunity to explore the entire nuclear energy lifecycle: from uranium mining and fuel production, through the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant, to the critically important final stage of safely managing the legacy of nuclear energy.
Important Information
- Expedition tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
- Only persons over the age of 18 are allowed on expedition. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are not allowed to participate.
· Depending on the situation at the plant, the itinerary may be adjusted.
· Access to the controlled area of the nuclear facility is only possible with a temporary visitor permit. The permit is issued (or declined) following a personal data verification process required by applicable legislation. When requested to provide your personal information, please respond promptly. Failure to submit the required information within the specified deadline will result in denied access to the facility, and tickets will not be refunded or exchanged. In exceptional cases, if the security screening results in a decision not to issue a permit, the full ticket price will be refunded.
- Before embarking on the expedition, please take a responsible assessment of your health condition – during the expedition we will be walking intensively a lot, climbing stairs, and will be on our feet all the time.
- Persons with any detectable blood alcohol concentration (above 0.00‰) or under the influence of narcotic or psychotropic substances are not permitted to enter the plant.
- It is prohibited to bring weapons of any kind, weapon accessories, ammunition, explosives (including replicas or imitations), pyrotechnics, flammable, explosive or toxic substances, radio signal jamming devices, alcoholic beverages, narcotic or psychotropic substances, food, computers, data storage devices, cameras, video recording equipment, or mobile phones into the plant.
