SHADES OF THE VOICE

Charlotte Kilsch (soprano)
Irma Kilsch (piano)

The NESSUN DORMA Night Concert Marathon invites audiences to an evening in which the human voice becomes the most expressive of instruments – fragile and powerful, intimate and theatrical, capable of transforming moods, characters and emotions in an instant.

The programme SHADES OF THE VOICE reveals one of soprano Charlotte Kilsch’s most distinctive artistic qualities: her ability to turn every piece into a unique musical story. Her voice defies rigid classification, moving freely between contrasting characters, colours and styles. Audiences will encounter not only songs and opera excerpts, but an entire gallery of musical portraits – from the most delicate lyrical confession to the passionate intensity of the operatic stage.

The evening brings together musical traditions from across Europe. The programme includes the lyrical songs of Francesco Paolo Tosti, the vibrant Spanish colours of Manuel de Falla and Federico García Lorca, the elegance of Gabriel Fauré, the fiery Habanera from Georges Bizet’s Carmen, scenes from the operatic worlds of Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, as well as a touching Lithuanian highlight – Tenderness by Algimantas Raudonikis.

Charlotte Kilsch studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with Professors Asta Krikščiūnaitė and Irena Milkevičiūtė. In 2021 she made her debut at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, where she continues to perform the title role in Alice in Wonderland. Active both in Lithuania and abroad, she creates original concert programmes that combine the intimacy of chamber music with the expressive power of opera.

Her partner for the evening is pianist Irma Kilsch, whose extensive concert experience on Lithuanian and European stages is matched by her sensitivity and ability to create a genuine artistic dialogue. Together, the two performers shape each work into a complete and compelling musical narrative.

This concert is a journey through different eras, languages and musical characters, united by the expressive power of the human voice – a voice that can tell stories, persuade, enchant and move.

Following the concert, audiences are invited to remain for the Media Opera ČIURLIONIS: I SEE MUSIC – a unique theatrical concept created by composer Audronė Žigaitytė. Inspired by the visionary world of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, it combines music, visual art, animation and digital media in a journey where music becomes vision and vision becomes music.
