POETIC VISIONS

Vaida Kirvelytė (piano)

The NESSUN DORMA Night Concert Marathon invites audiences to Poetic Visions, a recital by pianist Vaida Kirvelytė – a subtle journey through the world of Romantic piano music, where images of nature, memory, inner reflection and poetic imagination merge into a deeply personal musical narrative.

The programme opens with Robert Schumann’s cycle Waldszenen (Forest Scenes), nine musical miniatures portraying a Romantic dialogue between nature and the human soul. Along forest paths, the listener encounters solitary flowers, mysterious places, hunters, a prophetic bird and, finally, a quiet farewell. The second part of the recital continues this journey through the late waltzes and mazurka of Frédéric Chopin, where memories, longing and intimate lyricism take centre stage.

This programme is particularly close to the pianist’s own artistic temperament. Teachers and distinguished musicians have described Vaida Kirvelytė’s interpretations as poetic, spiritual, refined and rich in tonal colour. Pianist Mūza Rubackytė has praised her “subtle Romantic sensibility, clarity of pianistic expression and deep understanding of a work’s artistic spirit,” while the legendary pianist Vera Gornostayeva highlighted her “poetic nature, spirituality and vivid expressiveness.”

A graduate of the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, Vaida Kirvelytė continued her studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, later refining her artistry in Munich under the guidance of Professor Gerhard Oppitz. A laureate of international competitions, she has performed extensively in Lithuania and abroad, appeared at major festivals, and today shares her experience with a new generation of musicians at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts.

Poetic Visions is not a display of virtuosity for its own sake. It is an invitation to a thoughtful and intimate conversation in music – one in which Schumann’s Romantic visions and Chopin’s lyrical memories come together to form a single poetic landscape.

Following the concert, audiences are invited to remain for the Media Opera ČIURLIONIS: I SEE MUSIC – a unique theatrical concept created by composer Audronė Žigaitytė. Inspired by the visionary world of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, it combines music, visual art, animation and digital media in a journey where music becomes vision and vision becomes music.
