(Anykščiai) Leon Gurvitch – Bachomania

In his solo piano program Bachomania, internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Leon Gurvitch presents the music of Johann Sebastian Bach in a bold and exhilarating new light. On the occasion of the great master’s 340th birthday, Gurvitch not only celebrates Bach’s timeless works but also invites the audience to experience them through the lens of contemporary interpretative artistry.

With both reverence and imagination, he adapts compositions originally not intended for the piano—including excerpts from the famous Cello Suites and chorales such as Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. These works are reimagined with Gurvitch’s unique artistic signature and enriched with spontaneous improvisations, ensuring that no two performances are ever alike.

Bachomania is a journey through the centuries, blending the precision and beauty of Baroque music with the freedom and inventiveness of modern piano artistry. Having captivated audiences on prestigious stages such as New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Gurvitch brings a program to life that both honors Bach’s spirit and resonates with new generations of listeners.
