MALJORKOS PRELIUDAI
MALLORCA PRELUDES
"Mallorca Preludes" is the piano recital - first presentation of the debut album "Reflections Op. 28: Mallorca Preludes" by pianist Eglė Andrejevaitė. The album features 24 Preludes Op. 28 by Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, whose story began at the Valldemossa Monastery in Mallorca in 1838. It is here that the famous cycle of Op. 28 Preludes was created, becoming a timeless part of the world’s classical music repertoire.
In 2016, the prestigious Valldemossa Chopin Festival invited 24 contemporary Spanish composers to create one composition each—a reflection of each of Chopin's preludes. The performer, by pairing 12+12 - selected Chopin preludes with Spanish reflections - creates a dialogue, like a "bridge of time" from the past to the present, evoking the emotional inner world of the human soul.

ABOUT THE ARTIST – internationally acclaimed pianist Eglė Andrejevaitė has been immersed in a solo journey since 2013, launching a series of conceptual solo recitals, including "The Sonata of Serpent", "BALTIC AMBER", "An Hour with Beethoven", "Engraving – for the 100th Anniversary of the Baltic States" among others.
One of her standout projects was the concert-performance "Winter in Mallorca", prepared in 2021 in collaboration with actress and director Birutė Mar. The program received immense success during its performances, being highly praised and filling concert halls in Lithuania.
Frédéric Chopin's Preludes Op. 28 inspired the pianist to visit the Valldemossa Monastery on the Spanish island of Mallorca, where much of the Prelude cycle is believed to have been composed. The sheet music found at the monastery's souvenir shop—“24 Preludes for Frédéric Chopin”—became the idea behind her debut album. Reflections Op. 28: Mallorca Preludes was released by the global record label Challenge Records International on June 6th.
