One of the 20th century’s most sensational electronic acts Kraftwerk are set to headline next summer’s Positivus Festival with a spectacular 3-D performance. Positivus Festival 2014 will be held for 3 days on July 18th, 19th and 20th in Salacgrīva, Latvia. The current festival ticket prices will remain only until Sunday (December 22nd).
Kraftwerk have undoubtedly been the inspiration behind many of today’s greatest artists; having already launched a full scale pop revolution in the 70’s, they are true electronic pioneers. Their concert performances are hugely entertaining revues and crowd-pleasing events with brilliant songs, beautiful sounds, well-designed projections, and, lately, 3-D imagery. But the personality of the band away from the stage has always been hard to peg. Part of it is that Ralf Hütter prefers to let the work speak for itself. He doesn't do many interviews, and when he does sit for one, he never seems to give too much away.
Kraftwerk originated in the late 1960s when Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter met as students at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. While building their own various rhythmic devices and experimenting at their Kling Klang home recording studio, Kraftwerk released their debut album in 1969. International success came after the release of their 1974 record Autobahn, which showcased a perfect combination or rock and electronica. Kraftwerk are scheduled to perform on Saturday, July 19th as the main Lattelecom stage headliners.
Positivus Festival is the largest and most significant music and arts festival in the Baltic States, taking place in Salacgrīva, Latvia, for the eighth time in 2014. The jury of the European Festival Awards – the most significant festival awards ceremony in Europe – has shortlisted Positivus festival in the “Best European Festival Line-Up” category. Other finalists include Glastonbury, Roskilde, Primavera Sound, Hurricane, Sziget and others. Due to festival visitor open voting, Positivus will also be competing for the “Best Medium-Sized Festival” award this year. Positivus festival has hosted such acts as The xx, Muse, Sigur Rós, Imagine Dragons, Two Door Cinema Club, Willy Moon, Michael Kiwanuka, Tom Odell and many more.
